If you asked our clients what their ride-or-die treatment at Nuovo Skin and Health is, you’d be surprised how many don’t bat an eyelid when saying skin needling.
Despite what its name may suggest, skin needling, also known as microneedling and collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive aesthetic treatment that delivers incredible treatment outcomes…and we mean incredible!
With the cooler months approaching, it’s the perfect time to begin a skin needling treatment journey. Beginning your course of treatments now will not only help to combat winter dryness and dullness but mean that by the time we’re ready to emerge from the cold, into the warmer spring and summer social seasons, your skin will be glowing, and you’ll be ready to answer the question, “wow, what did you have done?!”
If you’re still deciding whether skin needling is right for you, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve compiled your most frequently asked skin needling questions below and had our experts shed light on this cutting-edge treatment.
How does skin needling actually work?
In our clinic, we harness the NeoPen medical microneedling device to perform our treatments. This industry-leading skin needling technology uses hundreds of microneedles to penetrate the skin, causing what we call micro-injuries. These injuries are minuscule, like a pinprick, but our body believes it’s been injured and needs to go into repair mode stat. This is where we put the “collagen induction” in collagen induction therapy.
The natural wound healing process is engaged in the treated areas to begin the rejuvenation process. Your body responds to the micro-injuries by accelerating its production of collagen and elastin to repair and rejuvenate skin cells and remodel scar tissue whilst keeping the surrounding skin undamaged. This leads to older skin cells being replaced with fresh new ones and consequently, brighter, tighter, and regenerated-looking skin.
Is it just for my face?
No, skin needling can be performed on the face and body, making it an exceptionally versatile treatment option. As well as their faces, we achieve outstanding skin needling results when treating clients’ necks, décolletage, hands, stomachs, and back.
The process of collagen induction therapy is a results-driven approach to treating concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles, unwanted pigmentation, uneven skin tone, acne scarring, surgical scarring, stretch marks, enlarged pores, and those wanting to achieve overall brightening and rejuvenation, particularly leading up to a special event.
Treatments take between 45 minutes to one hour with many of our clients adding their hands to their treatment to combat an area prone to showing the signs of ageing before anywhere else on the face or body.
Why do you suggest skin needling packages?
Think of skin needling packages as a trip to the gym, for your skin. The more times you workout, the closer you get to your fitness goals, right? The same goes for skin needling. The collagen induction process occurs every time a skin needling treatment is performed, and for some time following the treatment, so the more treatments you have, the better the overall outcome is going to be.
When treating most skin concerns, particularly the likes of scarring and stretchmarks, multiple treatments are suggested to achieve optimal results. Clients that commit to between 3 and 6 skin needling treatments can expect to see exceptional long-term results. Conveniently, we have 3 or 6 treatment packages available that you can pre-pay following your initial consultation.
Why must I have a skin consultation before my first treatment?
If you’re new to the skin needling game, a skin consultation is non-negotiable. This is the foundation of incredible results and ensures you’re not only suitable for the treatment but assesses the condition of your skin and the concerns we’ll be focusing on.
Together, with your clinician, you’ll leave with a solid understanding of how many treatments you may require, what to expect from your skin needling journey and any pre-skin needling prep your skin may require to be in its best condition for treatment.
Each of our skin needling treatments also includes take-home products to assist with healing and recovery and provide you with everything you need to achieve those incredible results you’ve been waiting for.
